Collection: Vocal Collection Subcollection: Vocal and Piano * world premiere recording
The 20th Century composers Peter Warlock, Herbert Howells, Michael Howard and Betty Roe were all inspired by the music of their country, both in the words they set in song and the music they composed. Tim Travers Brown, accompanied by Jeremy Filsell, explore the counter-tenor's role in British songwriting. Whilst Roe and Howard wrote specifically with the counter-tenor voice in mind, Warlock and Howells did not, providing the counter-tenor with a fantastic opportunity to highlight some of their best works in a new perspective.
This programme forms a delicate balance between modern styles and historical influences featuring the songs 'My Little Sweet Darling' and 'The Night' by Peter Warlock, 'The Painted Rose' by Michael Howard, 'When the Dew is Falling' by Herbert Howells and 'Noble Numbers' by Betty Roe. |

Collection: Organ Collection Subcollection: Organ Signum Classics are proud to announce Jeremy Filsell's second release on Signum Records - The Symphonies of Louis Vierne.
Louis Vierne, one of the great concert organists and composers of the 20th century, is best known for his organ works. In each of the six Symphonies for Organ, Vierne explores a method of generating a symphony from just a few themes. He once stated that he was far more attracted by musical thematicism than by tone colour.
Born virtually blind, Vierne showed an early aptitude for music. His works are said to reflect the vast and decorated architecture of Notre Dame in Paris. |

Collection: Choral Collection Signum Classics are proud to release the second disc from the Vasari Singers on Signum Classics - Anthems for the 21st Century.
To celebrate its first twenty-five years of vibrant music making, the Vasari Singers commissioned ten composers to each write an anthem that would in their eyes reflect the state of the world at the start of the new millennium.
The brief indicated that each work should be suitable as an anthem in an Anglican cathedral Evensong, and that it could also look beyond any constraints of Liturgy or formal religious doctrine to embrace a wider, ecumenical audience. Perhaps something more humanistic that would have a voice in the multi-cultural, multi-faith societies of the new 21st century world?
