Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra Two composers from Kassel. Both dies young - which was especially tragic in the case of Burgmüller, whose talented and interesting musical style (and fate) bring to mind Franz Schubert. Both symphonies are solid, well-formed works that resemble the music of Schubert. |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra Stenhammar´s noble, individual style never fails. The reason why these works are never heard is that they were written as incidental music to plays performed at the Lorensberg Theatre in Gothenburg. 'A Dream Play' and 'Romeo and Juliet' have been assembled into concert suites by Hilding Rosenberg, who retained the beautiful shifts of mood in the score to 'A Dream Play', especially the sweeping. Sibelian orchestral tutti at the end.
As you like it; A dream play (arr. Hilding Rosenberg); Romeo and Juliet (arr. Hilding Rosenberg). |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra The last of the Huber symphonies. Symphony 4 more serene and innerlooking than the other symphonies. Saint-Saens seems to be a main source of inspiration. Symphony 8 again vivid and personal -but mainly idyllic as most of the Huber symphonies. One of the great storytellers among composers! |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra This is hardly believable. Here is an absolute first rate late romantic composer, forgotten because the Nazis made him forgotten! He kept loyal to his Jewish wife and to his political convictions and lost all his important positions in the Dresden musical life. He was much inspired by Richard Strauss, and his orchestral texture is full of a longing, radiant beauty. He has the same absolute command of the orchestra as Richard Strauss!
Berlin Radio SO conducted by Hans-Peter Frank (overture) and Gerhard Pflüger (symphony). |

Subcollection: Violin There is one word for Bengtsson´s music. Craftmanship. He is a Swedish Romantic allright -but his musik is more general in style than folkloristic. The soloists change place as conductors -they are both highly qualified to do so. You will love these concerts! |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra Wilhelm Peterson-Berger (1867-1942): Symphony No. 1 in B flat major, "Baneret" & Symphony No. 5 in B minor, "Solitudo". Kungliga Hovkapellet conducted by Leif Segerstam.
The subtitle of Symphony no. 1 may indicate a big, glorious work, but these two symphonies by Peterson-Berger should be noted for their surprisingly delicate and skilful writing full of poignant nuances. No. 5 shows the quiet reflectiveness and nostalgia of the mature composer. |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra The symphonic poem Vettern is absolutely gorgeous! Undoubtedly here is a real gem, a Swedish Vltava, with the same kind of sweeping, blazing beauty. The symphony is classically brief and poignant, and we also hear the very idyllic, sweet-sounding orchestral suite I Vadstena Kloster. |

Collection: World Music Subcollection: Orchestra Dark drama infuses Dityramb. Strindberg was also a source of inspiration in Mäster Olof, written by his personal friend Tor Aulin. Partly stormy, partly slow and full of romantic moods, written with great skill. |
