The Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir was founded in 1960. Its founder and conductor since the beginning has been academician Hristo NEDYALKOV. During these 50 years the choir has been on 80 tours and it has given over 2000 concerts in 32 countries. Its repertoire includes about 800 songs written by Bulgarian and foreign composers. They have been recorded and released on many vinyl records and compact discs.
The young singers in the choir receive real vocal mastership schooling. It is thus natural that some of them choose singing as a profession, while the rest cherish their love for music throughout their whole life.
In this jubilee release, the children’s choir presents an interesting and varied programme, which includes songs by Bulgarian composers, opera choruses and works from the world music classics.

Soloists: Venetsia Netsova, Maria Radoeva, Plamena Girginova,
Lyubov Vasileva, Darina Kandulkova, Anna Notovska,

GIUSEPPE VERDI - DUETS FROM OPERAS - NICOLA GHIUSELEV - ALEXANDRINA PENDATCHANSKA - VLADIMIR STOYANOV

The famous bass Nicola Ghiuselev performs together with the young and already celebrated singers Alexandrina Pendatchanska and Valdimir Stoyanov duets from some of the most loved and widely performed Verdi operas. Still fairly unusual as a genre, this CD of opera ensemble excerpts offers the opportunity of getting to know and appreciating the vocalists' artistic mastery from a different point of view. The duets feature the musicality of the participating couples, alongside with their ability to co-ordinate and combine phrases, moods, feelings and to convey the protagonist's characteristic states, expressed in a harmonious musical sound. They depict vividly Leonora's soul, torn by grief, seeking for Padre Guardiano's kind and wise support; Attila, the cruel warrior and barbarian conqueror, who gradually realises the urgent plea of Ezio, the Roman, trying to convince him to have mercy on his native Italy. Each of the duets contains dramatic and psychological clashes and they all demonstrate the performers' unity, achieved by the soprano Pendatchanska, baritone Stoyanov and Nicola Ghiuselev, whom we hear in all recordings, with exquisite brilliance, both vocal and emotional, and perfect sense of musicality. The CD of Verdi opera duets is original not only for the idea and its realisation but also for the selection of musical excerpts which combine bass with soprano or baritone.

Opera voices from Bulgaria reveal their talent at all major opera stages of the world. They can be heard in the La Scala, Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera… One of these singers is Vania Vatralova-Stankov. She graduated in violin and singing at the Dobri Hristov College of Music and Arts in Varna and continued her studies in Spain at the Royal Conservatoire of Music and the Royal Opera School in Madrid. She was appointed as co-principal violin at the City of Elche Chamber Orchestra where she played as a soloist in many occasions but later on she decided to pursue fully her singing career. Her teacher, the soprano Ana Fernaud, introduced her to Bel Canto- repertoire. She has done further training and Master Classes with Renata Scotto, Montserrat Caballe, Mirella Freni and Nelly Miriccioiu, amongst others. After graduating she moved to the UK, and since then she has performed with Welsh National Opera Studio and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the title roles of operas by Donizetti, Verdi, Dvorak. Vania Vatralova-Stankov has also performed concerts and recitals throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. She has performed the major Oratorio repertoire with many orchestras, such as Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, London Gala Orchestra, Baroque Orchestra Valencia, and Madrid Players Orchestra and has worked under the baton of Alaxander Kantorov, Alex Ingram and Giorgio Leardini. She has participated in many International Festivals, such as Belcanto Festival Dordrecht (Holland), International Summer Festival in Peralada, Barcelona, Sofia Summer Days Festival and Varna International Summer Festival.
Noel Tredinnick has conducted in all the major concert venues in the UK, at the Sydney Opera House, the Conservatorium of Music in Moscow, the Sky Dome Stadium in Toronto, the Kravis Center in Palm Beach, St Michael’s Cathedral in Brussels, the Festival Hall in Varna, the City Hall in New York, Ammergauer Haus and Wieskirche in Oberammergau, to name a few.
