Stenhammar´s noble, individual style never fails. The reason why these works are never heard is that they were written as incidental music to plays performed at the Lorensberg Theatre in Gothenburg. 'A Dream Play' and 'Romeo and Juliet' have been assembled into concert suites by Hilding Rosenberg, who retained the beautiful shifts of mood in the score to 'A Dream Play', especially the sweeping. Sibelian orchestral tutti at the end.

Two composers from Kassel. Both dies young - which was especially tragic in the case of Burgmüller, whose talented and interesting musical style (and fate) bring to mind Franz Schubert. Both symphonies are solid, well-formed works that resemble the music of Schubert. |

A charming collection of August Söderman's music. He holds a place in many Swedish hearts. His music is heard at special occations like weddings and ceremonial gatherings. His music is folksy, with a somewhat idyllic nature. He had a real gift for melody -but did not find time or possibility to write big orchestral music. Still much recommended. |

Heinrich Schult was born in Beuthen in 1838. In 1862 he became pupil of Ignaz Moscheles and Carl Reinecke in Leibzig and thereby a fellow student of both Grieg and Svendsen. Schulz-Beuthen's manaaged to complete eight symphonies and left two unfinished. Other orchestral works include Symphonic poems, incidental music, melodrama, several overtures suites and miniatures. A lot of chamber music with Piano and other ensembles. Three operas, ten oratories and a requiem. |

An entirely new perspective on Friedrich von Flotow's compositions. This composer is best known on account of his opera Martha. Here we find newly discovered concertos, which must be considered as sensational. The first is brilliant and melodic, the second is probably influenced by Carl Maria von Weber's concertos. The Oranien suite is most charming, with Thomas Arne's Rule Britannia as one of the movements. |

The last of the Huber symphonies. Symphony 4 more serene and innerlooking than the other symphonies. Saint-Saens seems to be a main source of inspiration. Symphony 8 again vivid and personal -but mainly idyllic as most of the Huber symphonies. One of the great storytellers among composers! |
