Hephzibah Menuhin was an American-Australian pianist. She was sister to the violinist Yehudi Menuhin.

Legendary Performers of the 20th Century
Maria Veniaminovna Yudina (1899-1970) - piano
One of the most original and uncompromising Soviet pianists, Maria Yudina combined virtuosity, spirituality, strength, and intellectual depth in her performances. She was a pioneer in introducing Russian audiences to the works of Berg, Hindemith, Bartók, Webern, Messiaen, and other modern composers.
Her interpretation of Bach, central to her artistic legacy, is distinguished by its clarity, expressive narrative, and philosophical depth, giving each work a unique spiritual dimension.
Marina Semenovna Kozolupova (1918-1978) - violin
Coming from a remarkable family of musicians, Marina Kozolupova studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Konstantin Mostras and Miron Polyakin. From the 1930s to the 1970s she performed as a soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic, touring widely and recording with Rosa Tamarkina and Maria Yudina.
Grigory Mikhailovich Kogan (1901-1979) - piano, scholar
A pianist, musicologist, and professor, Grigory Kogan was the creator of the first Soviet course on the “History and Theory of Pianism. A brilliant performer with a vast repertoire, he also became a leading intellectual figure in Kazan during the late 1940s. Among his students was composer Sofia Gubaidulina. Internationally, he is best remembered for his influential monograph ”Busoni as Pianist”.
