Once more we are about to make the acquaintance of a composer whose destiny was obscured by the giants if his time. Even today, the shadows of Brahms, Bruckner, later followed by those of Strauss and Wagner, determine what is first and second-class music. Little by Little, the German post-romantic period is rediscovered, thanks to enteprising record producres and idealistic conductors

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Orchestra Battle of Leipzig, ouvertures and more. A collection of world prémiere recordings! The Battle of Leipzig is the real sensation here. Malmö Opera orchestra, Conductor Christopher Fifield. First English romantic on the Sterling label. Cliffe, who wrote very few works, was an intensely Bruckner-inspired composer with the same fondness of beautifully crafted theme work. The third movement is truly heaven. Cloud and Sunshine -is also a quite interesting work -the beginning really sounds as if it could be played by an organ! |

Subcollection: Piano Languages of Booklet Text: English, French, German
The most interesting feature with Huber in younger years is the fact that his theme work originally seem rather undistinguished. Still when working on the material, he alway find something convincing with them! This goes for the 1st. And Lotolff, Concerto Symphonique no 5 is not far away... The 3rd is a completely other matter. Here he is absolutely personal, also in the choice of themes! Just the beginning is arresting in it´s refinement. A stunning continuation of the symphonic complete series! |

For all people interested in body and movement, the name Dalcroze is not unfamiliar. He owned a special institute in Geneva and devoted much time and effort to the development of his theories. But he was certainly also a very secure and very productive composer. This CD with some very charming pieces reminding of Messager will serve as a starting point. |

Collection: World Premiere Recording Subcollection: Choir Revelation Cantata, Op. 31; Cantata for the 450th anniversary of Uppsala University, Op. 45
The Revelation Cantata was a big favourite of the composer. A very emotional piece of music, indeed, while the Uppsala Cantata was more in a festive scale. Great music, just the same! |
