New digital recording
These unique fascinating disis bring you originál performance from originál piano rolls in full digital sound. These are not acoustic or electric recordings re-mastered, but actual performance recorded for mechanical reproducing pianos (Ampico, Duo-Art and Welte Mignon) by the great composers and interpreters between 1904 and 1935. The recordings were made recently on a new concert-grand piano.
This release is part of a new pianist-led series of the piano roll albums. These contain some of the finest playing from the Great Pianists of the Early 20th Century. Some of these rolls are nearly 100 years old and come from a collection owned by Denis Condon who is one of the worlds most respected authorities on the piano roll and has some 18,000 in his collection. These recordings were made in 1992 and recorded on a brand new Yamaha Concert Grand under Denis's supervision - They are not historical recordings.
